Ladurée Soho (398 W Broadway) had its soft opening this weekend and will be open to the public on Wednesday, February 5, 2014. It will feature a full-service restaurant and an outdoor patio. Though currently unavailable, reservations can be made at OpenTable here. This new flagship location has started making pastries and viennoiseries previously impossible to find anywhere in North America. Scroll down to see the Saint-Honoré rose and the pistachio religieuse that I bought yesterday.
I love the new macaron box – according to an employee at Ladurée, it features a “very French” joke about the post-Christmas sales season. “0% OFF SALE!” I thought it was surprisingly cheeky for such a traditional fabricant de douceurs
M. Wells was selling oysters and clams last night at see.me and Rockrose’s “The Story of the Creative” exhibit at the Socrates Sculpture Park satellite near the Linc LIC at 43-10 Crescent Street in Queens. I noticed that M. Wells Steakhouse has some new furniture on the side patio (which is adjacent to the sculpture park).
M. Wells Steakhouse is expected to open next month in a former car repair shop in Long Island City. Here is a photo via NYT’s Julie Glassberg of a bone-in burger that might be on the menu.
Paris Baguette in Ktown is selling a very special Brie cheesecake. They’ve managed to use sugar and frosting to make the cake resemble a little round of Brie cheese. I actually thought it was covered in a layer of white rind before I cut into it. The creamy Brie filling inside is savory (maybe even a bit salty). I loved it!
