Manty (манты) are served stuffed with seasoned lamb and onions at Café Kashkar, a Uyghur restaurant in Brighton Beach just off the eastern end of the boardwalk. Freshly chopped celery leaves and dill are sprinkled on top of each dumpling.
You will find a little cruet of infused vinegar at each table.
This lagman (لەڭمەن) dish included stewed lamb and vegetables. It was so delicious I almost ordered a second plate.
If you get a chance, you will love this place. The new owners have updated the menu with pictures. The only downside is that the hot guys who used to work there no longer do… and there is a mechanical bird that chirps from time to time that drove me crazy.

Those dumplings look amazing! I am looking to move out to Brooklyn so hopefully your blog will give me the best places to head to for food (im not much of a cook) looking forward to reading more! x
They really are amazing… and everything at Cafe Kashkar is so affordable! It makes everything taste that much better, hehe. Have you decided which neighborhood you want to move to?
can’t go wrong with some cheap food! haha! Well my research is pretty limited but I have been looking at forte green, clinton hill and downtown brooklyn. But I feel like I know so little about them all! So tricky trying to find a place that I will be happy with! x
